Is Mont Tremblant Worth Visiting? A Summer Hit With Kids

Most people know Mont Tremblant as one of Canada’s top ski resorts, but many still wonder if Mont Tremblant is worth visiting, especially when the snow is gone.

Mont Tremblant is best known for winter skiing, but summer is one of the best times to visit. The trails are open, the village is lively with events and outdoor shows, and the lakes and beaches are warm enough for swimming and paddling.

We visited Mont Tremblant in the summer and were surprised by how much there was to do. We participated in a variety of activities, including summer skiing (more on that later!), luge rides, forest light shows, and much more.

I can assure you that visiting Mont Tremblant in the summer is fun, easy, and full of variety, and it’s definitely worth it.

And here is why.

What Makes Mont Tremblant Special?

Mont Tremblant feels like a mix of a European ski village and Old Quebec City charm, with a bit of magic thrown in. Plus, once you arrive and park, you don’t need your car again. The whole pedestrian village is designed to be easy to walk in, with colourful shops, playgrounds, patios and green spaces for kids to run around.

Even if our family loves road tripping, we all enjoy exploring towns and cities on foot. We typically get to discover so much more, and we had some exercise out of it.

Everything is all in one place. You can ride the lifts, walk to restaurants, grab ice cream, and head to the lake or beach without packing up the car and buckling up the kids in their car seat. It’s a true all-in-one spot for nature and outdoor fun, especially for families with younger kids.

So Much to Do for All the Family in the Summer at Mont Tremblant

If you’re wondering what to do in Mont Tremblant in summer, you’ll find more than enough to keep kids (and parents) busy. When the snow melts, the mountain transforms into a giant adventure park packed with family-friendly attractions.

Some of our family’s favourites were:

  • riding the panoramic gondola for mountain views and watching the Birds of Prey show
  • trying summer skiing,
  • riding down the mountain on the mountain luge,
  • splashing around at the waterpark,
  • challenging ourselves in an escape room (we did the Enchanted Forest, which was perfect for the 6 and 8-year-old kids),
  • enjoying the evening light show, Tonga Lumina.

The pedestrian village is buzzing in summer too, with street performers, live music, and pop-up shows that are perfect for families wandering between activities. Parc de la Plage, Tremblant’s main beach, is a great spot to cool off with swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking (and some hotels include free beach access).

And if you still have energy left, you can always add a short hike or bike ride through the forest for a bit of extra time in nature.

Cost VS Value

Like many popular resort towns, Mont Tremblant is not the cheapest destination. Restaurants, activities and lodging can add up, especially in peak seasons. However, it’s worth the splurge if you plan ahead and know where you can make savings.

Here are a few ways to save:

1. Use the Mont Tremblant Activity Card

The Mont Tremblant Activity Card, also known as the multi-activity bundle, is one of the best ways to stretch your money. By bundling activities, you can save compared to buying each ticket on its own. The multi-activity bundle gets you discounts for 3-activity passes or 5-activity passes. Plus, it saves time since you don’t have to stop at the ticket office for each activity.

Pro-Tip: Use the activity card strategically to ensure you get the most value for your money (not just in terms of activity price, but also in terms of activity length). For example, you can use the card for a 5-minute Eurobungy or a daylong access to the aquapark, or you can use it for 3×5-minute laser tag games or a day access for summer skiing…

It’s almost a $40 saving per adult.

Stay in a hotel room with a kitchen.

Staying at a hotel with a kitchen, like La Tour des Voyageurs, is another easy way to save. We ate simple breakfasts and lunches in our room and only splurged on dinners and treats. We could have even decided to cook all our meals if we really wanted to be even more on a budget.

Visiting midweek or outside of big weekends can also help keep costs down. Summer is busy but not as packed as ski season, so there are often package deals or specials if you book ahead.

Take advantage of the free activities.

Some of the best things to do here in summer are completely free, like the hiking trails and the fun village playground. If you’re staying at a hotel in the pedestrian village, check if you get free access to Parc de la Plage, Tremblant’s main beach. It’s an easy way to spend a sunny day swimming or relaxing by the lake without paying extra. You can also spend time at your hotel’s pool.

Overall, Tremblant is not a budget trip, but for families who want everything in one place and are not interested in a typical all-inclusive, it’s a good value for what you get.

Comfortable Accommodation Perfect for Families

Mont Tremblant offers a variety of options for accommodations, including slopeside hotels, cozy chalets, and condo-style units. We stayed at La Tour des Voyageurs, which turned out to be one of the best places to stay in Mont Tremblant in the summer.

The hotel is situated directly at the entrance to the pedestrian village, just steps from the Cabriolet lift. Once we checked in, we parked the car and didn’t need it again until checkout.

Our room felt more like an apartment, with a separate bedroom, a full kitchen, a spacious living room, and a patio for morning coffee. The kids loved the heated outdoor pool and the hot tub. There were plenty of tables around the pool, too, so we could eat lunch outside while they played.

One of our favourite perks was being within the pedestrian zone of the village, yet far enough away from the crowds, so it remained relatively quiet. The kids also loved having a playground and a big grassy area just a short walk away.

For families, this kind of setup saves time and energy.

Lots of Dining & Local Food Options

Food is a big part of visiting Mont Tremblant in summer. The village offers a variety of dining options, featuring a mix of chain restaurants and unique establishments.

For casual treats, Chocolato is always a hit with kids. We stopped there for ice cream. BeaverTails is another must-try for a sweet snack after a long day outside.

For a sit-down meal, there’s something for everyone. We had a great dinner at Yama-No-Kami, a Japanese pub with sushi and small plates, in the Upper Village section. Another good stop was The Shack, where we shared poke nachos, burgers and salmon. If you want to relax while the kids run around, Resto-Pub Le Q.G. Mont-Tremblant is a smart pick. Their patio faces the playground, so the kids can play while you enjoy a drink and a meal.

If you’re wondering if Mont Tremblant is worth visiting with kids, the answer is a clear yes. It’s one of the easiest places to keep kids entertained without having to plan every detail in advance.

There are activities for kids of all ages, from toddlers to teens. Playgrounds are conveniently located right next to restaurants and patios, allowing parents to relax while their kids run around. The pedestrian village means no busy roads to cross, which makes it feel safe for families to wander.

Final Thoughts

If you love the idea of a place where you can park the car, walk everywhere, and spend days outdoors with plenty for kids to do, then yes, Mont Tremblant is totally worth visiting. Summer is the best time to see just how much this mountain village has to offer beyond ski season.

You can spend mornings on the trails, afternoons at the beach, and evenings trying new treats or watching outdoor shows like Tonga Lumina. The Activity Card Mont Tremblant makes it simple to plan your days without worrying about tickets each time.

With summer skiing, the Birds of Prey show, luge rides, laser tag, an escape room and the indoor Aquaclub, there’s always something new to do. And for parents, it’s easy to enjoy too. Good food, mountain views, and the option to do a lot or just relax by the lake make it feel like a balanced getaway that works for everyone.

Getting to Mont Tremblant

Mont Tremblant sits in the Laurentian Mountains in Quebec, about 130 km north of Montreal. The easiest way to get there is to fly into Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and then drive. The drive can take two hours or longer, depending on traffic, so plan extra time if you’re arriving around rush hour.
